Hello fellow tumblrs!

Progress is accelerating and we are happy to update you all with our recent confirmed donations from Blue Max Materials and Unit Paving (Unit Paving - see above images). This is such a great stepping stone (pun intended) in our project and also very encouraging to know what a little research and networking can do for an extremely frugal budget.

If anyone has information about additional companies that willingly donate discarded materials (not just landscape materials) then please let us know!

We will continue to update you all on the direction of our project design and construction and of course let you know about opportunities for you to be involved!

Here is a presentation plan that we can use as Scheme 1.

Here is a presentation plan that we can use as Scheme 1.

Sketches from our charrette last Friday. I basically defined 3 zones of grading that will terrace down towards the parking lot. The program is located among elevated and recessed platforms along the primary axis.

Surveying Area 15 project site. We are hoping to have three design schemes within the next two weeks. Get updates here! We will need volunteers this summer!

Also, if anyone knows of an abundance of pallets, wood, bricks, rocks, etc. let us know! We are low budget and looking for anything free or low cost. Any materials with innovative potential are also welcome. Thanks!

These are some shots of the Grafitti Wall in zone 3 of Area15. Some great work is going on here and we want to make sure what we design facilitates this creativity in the future.

THANK YOU to everyone who came out to help us clean up the zones for our Area15 project. There is still some work to do but we’re holding off until after BarCamp this weekend (and until after this hectic semester ends). Here are before and after shots of part of Zone 1 much more organized and with all the heavy debris displaced elsewhere for future use.
Speaking of BarCamp this weekend it is FREE to register and there will be tons of interesting topics to cover and networking with great people. There will also be food!!! So check out the schedule and take a few moments to register for this great event at:

richardsouth asked: I am diggity down for this. I don't have a sledgehammer but I'll be there.

AWESOME!!! You get free coffee…. and its AMAZING. Let us know if you have any other questions Sir South.

studymodel asked: What if I'm out of town the weekend of the 9th? Other demo/build/work days?

As of right now those are the only demo days we’re planning on because BarCamp is the next Friday and Saturday and we’re preparing for that.

That said, BarCamp is free to register and there’s food and drinks there and a bar crawl Friday night. You should definitely check that out. After that we’re playing it by ear. We’ll update consistently!

Flyers to look for.

These are flyers we designed to send out around the School of Architecture and Area15 businesses for volunteer information. So look for these next week!
